When we come to services at First Baptist of Danvers we like to think we come primarily to worship our Lord and that we do it as the church, the Body of Christ. We see ourselves as part of the universal church, in all its ethnic, cultural and social diversity but gathering locally to worship our one, true savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The preaching is expository in style and so we begin and end with the biblical text acknowledging that we come primarily to meet with God not hear from man. "We gather together as the church not to enjoy preaching eloquence (or to criticize its lack) but to hear and heed the Word of God. We come to be exhorted, not entertained." From: "Preaching for God's Glory" by Alistair Begg.
We hope that you will visit and be greeted by the congregation and sense the presence of the Holy Spirit of God at work.
You can also expect prayer, scripture reading, special musical offerings and preaching from the Bible, God's Word.
As a visitor you can expect a blend of contemporary worship music as well as the singing of the great hymns of the church. We have a time to "meet and greet" for the congregation during the service including the children, who are dismissed later in the service for children's education.
